Arjun Kapoor was born on June 26, 1985, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to film producer Boney Kapoor and entrepreneur Mona Shourie Kapoor. He is the grandson of filmmaker Surinder Kapoor and the nephew of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. He has a younger sister, Anshula Kapoor, and two half-sisters, Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor.

Arjun Kapoor made his acting debut in 2012 with the drama "Ishaqzaade," which was commercially successful and earned him the Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut. He achieved further commercial successes with the 2014 films "Gunday" and "2 States," the latter of which became his highest-grossing release. This was followed by a series of critical and commercial failures, with the sole exception of the comedy-drama "Ki & Ka" in 2016.
