Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor (born 25 February 1981) is a prominent Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. Recognized for his versatility and evolving acting range, Kapoor has established himself as one of Bollywood’s leading and highest-paid actors, consistently ranking in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2012.

Shahid Kapoor was born in New Delhi to actor Pankaj Kapur and actor-dancer Neelima Azeem. After his parents’ divorce when he was three, he continued living in Delhi with his mother and maternal grandparents, while his father moved to Mumbai. His early childhood was influenced by his maternal grandfather, a journalist, who played an active role in his upbringing. He shifted to Mumbai at age 10, following his mother’s aspirations as an actress.

He attended Gyan Bharati School in Delhi and later Rajhans Vidyalaya in Mumbai. For higher education, he spent three years at Mithibai College, Mumbai. Shahid developed an early interest in dance and trained at Shiamak Davar's academy, becoming a skilled dancer and securing work as a background dancer in Bollywood films such as “Dil To Pagal Hai” (1997) and “Taal” (1999).

His personal life has often attracted media attention. His much-publicized relationship with co-star Kareena Kapoor ended in 2007 during the filming of “Jab We Met.” Later, tabloid speculation linked him to several actresses, though he became more private about his relationships over time.

In 2015, Shahid married Mira Rajput, whom he met through the religious group Radha Soami Satsang Beas. The couple has two children: daughter Misha (born 2016) and son Zain (born 2018). An ardent vegetarian, he credits Brian Hines’ book “Life is Fair” for influencing his lifestyle.
