Murali Siddalingaiah

Murali Siddalingaiah, known professionally as Murali, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Tamil cinema and also appeared in Kannada films.

He was born on May 19, 1964, in Bangalore (then in Mysore State, now Karnataka), India. His father was Siddalingaiah, a Kannada film director, and his mother was Dhanalakshmi.

He was famous for roles that portrayed him as a perceptive singer or a tragic lover, and he was fondly popular as "Mike Murali" in the film industry.

He began his acting career with the Kannada film industry in 1984, and his first Tamil movie was "Poovilangu," which helped him make a name in the film industry. His breakthrough Tamil film was "Pagal Nilavu," directed by Mani Ratnam's first Tamil film, which garnered Murali great recognition as an actor. He was also known as "Puratchi Nayagan" in Tamil cinema.

Throughout his career, he worked in over 100 films, appearing in both leading and supporting roles. He acted with many prominent stars including Vijayakanth, Prabhu, Sathyaraj, Karthik, Prabhu Deva, Surya, Parthiban, Sarath Kumar, Mammootty, and Sivaji Ganesan.

Some of his notable films include "Vetri kodi kattu" (2000), "Poove Unakkaga" (1996), and "Idhayam" (1991). Initially, Murali portrayed the character of an angry young man in his first few films, which was later transformed into a soft-natured hero persona.

Murali was married to Shobha, and the couple had three children: two sons named Adharvaa (also spelled Atharvaa) and Akash, and one daughter named Kavya. His son Atharvaa debuted as an actor in the 2010 film "Baana Kaathadi".

Murali died on September 8, 2010, at the age of 46, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He suffered a massive heart attack and was admitted to Chennai's Rama Chandra Hospital, where he passed away at 7:30 am due to cardiac failure.
