He is an Indian National Award and Filmfare Award winning musician, who primarily composes music for the Hindi film industry. He was born on 2 November 1960 in Mumbai, India, and started his career in 1977 with the film Hunterwali 77.
He has composed music for more than 350 films, including Baazigar, Refugee, Main Hoon Na, and Judwaa 2. He is the son of Sardar Malik, a veteran music director. He is married to Anju Malik and has two daughters, Anmol and Ada, who are also singers.
