He gained acclaim for his unique satirical sense of humor, blending lightness and biting wit to comment on social and political themes. He completed his early education in Bangladesh before moving to Calcutta in 1951 to attend college, where he studied economics at Central Calcutta College (now Maulana Azad College). He briefly worked as a school teacher in Habra, North 24 Parganas.
His literary career began with poetry, his first collection titled "Tomar Pratima" published in 1960. Over time, he expanded his repertoire to include numerous humorous and satirical short stories, novels, and essays.
