Fawad Khan (full name: Fawad Afzal Khan) is a Pakistani actor, producer, screenwriter, and singer born on November 29, 1981, in Karachi, Pakistan, to a family originally from Lahore.
His father worked in the pharmaceutical industry, which led Fawad to spend much of his childhood abroad, living in Greece, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom (Manchester), and Dubai before returning to Pakistan at age 13. He completed his A-levels at Lahore Grammar School and later earned a degree in computer engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES), though he has described himself as a "terrible engineer".

Fawad Khan began his career in entertainment as a musician, serving as the lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Entity Paradigm (EP), which he formed in 2001 with co-stars from the television sitcom Jutt and Bond.
The band appeared on the finale of Pepsi Battle of the Bands in 2002, and Khan became widely known for EP's 2003 debut album Irtiqa. After approximately 250 performances, he left the band to pursue a film career.
He made his film debut with a supporting role as Sarmad in the 2007 Pakistani social drama Khuda Kay Liye, one of Pakistan's highest-grossing films at the time. Khan rose to prominence in television with the period drama Dastaan (2010), for which he received the Best Male Actor Award at the Pakistan Media Awards.
He achieved major success starring as Ashar Hussain in the popular television serial Humsafar (2011) and as Zaroon Junaid in the family drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012). For both performances, he received the Lux Style Award for Best Actor.
In 2014, he made his Bollywood debut in the romantic comedy Khoobsurat, playing Vikram Singh Rathore alongside Sonam Kapoor. He became the first Pakistani male actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for this performance.
He later received critical praise for his role as Rahul Kapoor in the family drama Kapoor & Sons (2016), which earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also appeared in a cameo as DJ Ali in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), his final Hindi film role.
Following a brief hiatus, he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Disney+'s Ms. Marvel (2022) as Hassan, appearing in episodes 4 and 5. His action-adventure film The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022), in which he starred as Maula Jatt, became Pakistan's highest-grossing film of all time.
He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Filmfare Award, two Lux Style Awards, and six Hum Awards, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest contemporary artists from Asia.
In his personal life, Fawad Khan married Sadaf Khan on November 12, 2005, after an eight-year courtship. The couple has three children together. Khan and his wife founded "Silk by Fawad Khan," a clothing line whose debut collection was launched in August 2012 in Lahore.
He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 17 following an accident that damaged his pancreas behind a swimming pool, after which he lost 10 kilograms. He performed Hajj with his family in 2018 and was invited to the Annual Hajj Lunch by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
