Dulquer Salmaan is an Indian actor, singer, and producer who primarily works in Malayalam cinema, with notable roles in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films.
He was born on 28 July 1986 in Kochi, Kerala, India, as the younger son of legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty and Sulfath.
He studied in Kerala until his primary classes, after which he joined Sishya School in Chennai. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Purdue University in the United States. Before pursuing acting professionally, he worked as a business manager. He completed a three-month acting course at the Barry John Acting Studio in Chennai to train for his film career.

Dulquer Salmaan made his acting debut in 2012 with the Malayalam action drama film Second Show, in which he played a gangster. His performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. That same year, he appeared in Anwar Rasheed's critically and commercially successful film Ustad Hotel, for which he received his first Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actor and won the Best Male Debut award.
He gained wider recognition through popular Malayalam films including ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi (2013), where he made his debut as a singer, and the road movie Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013).
His career breakthrough came with the ensemble romantic comedy-drama Bangalore Days (2014), which became one of the biggest blockbusters in Malayalam cinema history and featured an ensemble cast including Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim, Fahadh Faasil, and others.
He established himself as a leading Malayalam actor with acclaimed performances in Vikramadithyan (2014), Charlie (2015), Kali (2016), and Kammatti Paadam (2016). His role in Charlie earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. He also starred in Jomonte Suvisheshangal (2017) and Kurup (2021).
He expanded his career to Tamil cinema with OK Kanmani (O Kadhal Kanmani) (2015), directed by Mani Ratnam, which gained wide appreciation. He later appeared in Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (2020), another box office success.
His Telugu debut came with the biographical drama Mahanati (2018), and he achieved further success with the romantic film Sita Ramam (2022) and Lucky Baskhar (2024). For Mahanati and Sita Ramam, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor – Telugu.
In Hindi cinema, he featured in Karwaan (2018) alongside Irrfan Khan, which gained significant appreciation, and The Zoya Factor (2019), co-starring Sonam Kapoor, which was less successful.
He married Chennai-based architect Amal Sufiya (also spelled Amaal Sufiya) on 22 December 2011. The couple has a daughter named Maryam Ameeram Salmaan (also spelled Maryam Ameerah Salmaan), born on 5 May 2017. He is also recognized as a fashion icon and is involved in entrepreneurship and social causes.
