Sudha Chandran, born on September 21, 1964, in Mumbai, India, is a renowned Indian Bharatanatyam dancer and actress. She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of eight and quickly gained recognition for her talent. However, her life took a dramatic turn in 1981 when she was involved in a road accident near Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.

The accident resulted in her right leg becoming gangrenous, leading to its amputation. Despite this setback, her determination and resilience saw her return to dancing with the help of a prosthetic Jaipur foot. Her comeback performance in Mumbai in 1984 was highly acclaimed, establishing her as one of India's best Bharatanatyam dancers.

Her acting career began with the Telugu film "Mayuri" in 1984, which was based on her own life story. Her performance in the film earned her the National Film Award – Special Jury Award in 1986. She continued to act in various films across different languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Some of her notable films include "Naache Mayuri" (1986), "Thanedaar" (1990), and "Shola Aur Shabnam" (1992). In addition to her film career, Sudha Chandran made a significant impact on Indian television. She is best known for her roles in popular TV series such as "Kaahin Kissii Roz," "K Street Pali Hill," and "Naagin."

In her personal life, Sudha Chandran is married to Ravi Dang, an assistant director, since 1994. She is known for her disciplined lifestyle and dedication to her craft. Despite the challenges she faced, she has always maintained a positive outlook on life.

Sudha Chandran is also the founder of the Sudha Chandran Academy of Dance, which has branches in Mumbai and Pune. She is actively involved in promoting dance and supporting disabled individuals through her work with the National Association of Disabled Enterprises (NADE).

She has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances, including the Special Jury Award at the National Film Awards.
