Priya Lal

Priya Lal, professionally known as Priyaa Lal, is a British actress who primarily appears in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu feature films.

Her full name is Priyanka Lalaji. She was born on August 1, 1993, in Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates to Malayali parents from Kerala; her father is Lalaji and her mother is Beena, both from Tiruvalla.

She has an elder brother named Deepak Lalaji. When she was a young child, her family migrated to the United Kingdom and settled in Liverpool, England, where she is based. Priyaa Lal made her cinematic debut in the Malayalam film Janakan in 2010, directed by N. R. Sanjeev and starring Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi.

She played the lead character Seetha/Anu, the daughter of Gopi and Kaveri's characters in the movie. The film was a commercial success, and her song "Olichirunne" from the movie became a huge hit, winning the Kerala State Award in 2010.

She was named the "British-Malayalam" person of the year in 2012 for being the first Malayali girl from the UK to venture into films.

Her other notable Malayalam film works include Killadi Raman (2011) and Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi (2015). She also appeared in Holidays (2010), Kunthapura (2013), Genius (2018), and made her Telugu cinema debut with Guvva Gorinka (2020), where she played Sirisha, a violinist who relocates to Hyderabad.

In Telugu, she plays an independent girl who falls in love with the hero played by Satyadev. Her later films include Mayil (2021). She is fluent in Telugu, having picked up the language by watching Telugu movies, and is a self-confessed fan of actor Pawan Kalyan.

Beyond acting, Priyaa Lal is well known for her dancing and singing skills, and she also works as a sports presenter and interior designer. She currently lives in Liverpool, United Kingdom, though some sources indicate she has also been based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She is a British citizen and holds Indian nationality through her parents.
