Abhishek Chatterjee (30 April 1964 – 24 March 2022) was a celebrated Indian actor known for his extensive work in Bengali cinema. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he became renowned for his versatility and memorable presence in both films and television.
Abhishek Chatterjee was born in Baranagar, West Bengal. He completed his schooling at Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School. Afterward, he graduated from Seth Anandram Jaipuria College, which is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.
In 2008, Abhishek Chatterjee married Sanjukta Chatterjee. The couple was blessed with a daughter.
He started his acting career with a notable debut in the film Pathbhola (1986), directed by Tarun Majumdar. He acted alongside established veterans such as Sandhya Roy, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Tapas Paul, and Utpal Dutt, an auspicious beginning that immediately brought him into the limelight.
