Raghav Chadha, a prominent Indian politician and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, recently defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), triggering a massive backlash including a drop of nearly 1 million Instagram followers in 24 hours. This move, alongside six other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, marks a significant shift in his career. 

Raghav Chadha was born on November 11, 1988, in Delhi to Sunil Chadha, a businessman, and Alka Chadha, a homemaker. He attended Modern School, Barakhamba Road, graduated with a B.Com from the University of Delhi in 2009, and became a Chartered Accountant in 2011 after qualifying from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Early in his career, he worked at firms like Deloitte before entering politics.

Raghav Chadha joined AAP during the 2011 Anna Hazare anti-corruption movement and rose quickly, becoming national treasurer in 2015. He won the 2020 Delhi Assembly election from Rajinder Nagar, served as Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, and became India's youngest Rajya Sabha MP in 2022.

Known for sharp parliamentary debates, he contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from South Delhi but lost. 

He was a key AAP figure, contributing to its Punjab expansion in 2022 and pushing reforms like the Delhi Lokpal Bill. He recently criticized AAP for straying from honest politics after dedicating 15 years to it. 

Raghav Chadha married Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra on September 24, 2023, at The Leela Palace in Udaipur. The couple welcomed their son, Neer, on October 19, 2025. His non-political family background emphasized education and public service.

On April 23-24, 2026, Raghav Chadha and six other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs merged with BJP, citing constitutional provisions and submitting a letter to the Chairman.
