Mumbai, November 2, 2026: Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan continued his long-standing Sunday tradition of greeting fans outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, but this week's appearance featured noticeably tighter security. The veteran actor met admirers from inside a transparent protective enclosure that multiple media reports described as bulletproof.

Videos and photographs from the November 1 gathering showed Amitabh Bachchan standing inside a clear protective structure positioned on the elevated platform from which he usually acknowledges fans. His son, Abhishek Bachchan, accompanied him during the interaction and remained close by while the actor waved and greeted the crowd. Mumbai Police personnel were also present, and barricades had been placed to manage the large gathering outside the residence.

The appearance quickly attracted attention on social media because it differed from Bachchan's regular "Sunday Darshan" tradition, which has seen him meet supporters outside Jalsa for decades.

The increased security comes after reports of a threatening email that allegedly mentioned Jalsa among potential targets. According to multiple news reports, Mumbai Police launched an investigation after receiving information about the email in October. The message reportedly referred to Amitabh Bachchan's residence and other locations in Mumbai.

However, it is important to note that authorities have not publicly confirmed that the protective enclosure was installed specifically because of the threat email. While many reports have linked the two developments, the exact reason for the enclosure has not been officially disclosed.

Despite the heightened security, Amitabh Bachchan did not cancel his customary meeting with fans. Videos showed him waving and greeting supporters who had gathered outside the bungalow, maintaining a tradition that has become a landmark weekly event for his admirers.

The actor's decision to continue the interaction was welcomed by fans, even as the additional safety arrangements highlighted growing security concerns around high-profile public figures.

The appearance also came shortly after Amitabh Bachchan shared an update on his health through his blog. The actor recently wrote that he requires more rest during his recovery, stating: "Yet more rest needed .. adjusting .. thinking and wondering .. the human body and its uniqueness."

He had previously indicated that doctors had advised him to slow down and take adequate rest.

Despite health concerns, Amitabh Bachchan remains active professionally. He continues to host the television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, one of India's longest-running and most popular entertainment programs.
