Hazarika completed his education in Guwahati and later pursued a law degree from the University of Calcutta. However, his true passion lay in literature, and he devoted himself to writing and promoting Assamese literature throughout his life. Hazarika's literary career spanned over six decades, during which he wrote numerous poems, plays, and translations. He explored a wide range of themes in his works, including love, nature, social issues, and the cultural heritage of Assam. His poetry was known for its lyrical beauty and deep emotional resonance, and he was considered one of the leading figures of modern Assamese poetry.
