Jai Jagadish

Jai Jagadish (born June 29, 1954) is an Indian actor, director, and producer who works primarily in the Kannada film industry, also known as Sandalwood.

Born in Sakleshpura, Hassan, he launched his acting career in 1976 with the film Phalithamsha, where he appeared as the lead hero.

Over the course of his five-decade career, he has appeared in more than 300 films, gracefully transitioning from romantic leads in his early years to character roles and memorable supporting parts later on.

Some of his most notable acting credits include Garjane (1981), Gaali Maathu (1981), Benkiyalli Aralida Hoovu (1983), Bandhana (1984), Madhuve Madu Tamashe Nodu (1986), Samara (1995), and Moggina Manasu (2009). His film Kothigalu Saar Kothigalu won the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Film, a recognition he also contributed to as a producer.

Jai Jagadish ventured into film production in 1998 with the movie Bhoomi Thayiya Chochchala Maga. He made his directorial debut in 2006 with Madana, starring Aditya and Samiksha.

In 2017, he appeared in Raaga, directed by P.C. Shekhar, and in the action film Dhairyam. His later filmography includes roles in Ugramm (2014), Bahaddur (2014), Simhadri (2014), 1st Rank Raju (2015), Octopus (2015), Tom and Jerry (2021), and Munduvareda Adhyaya (2021), where he played a Commissioner.

Beyond cinema, Jai Jagadish is actively involved in martial arts and serves as the President of Wakayama Karate-Do India, demonstrating his dedication to promoting physical fitness in the country.

On the personal front, he was previously married to Roopa, with whom he has a daughter named Arpitha; after their divorce, custody of Arpitha was granted to Roopa.

He later married Vijayalakshmi Singh, and they have three daughters together: Vaibhavi, Vaisiri, and Vainidhi.
