Khan Sir

Khan Sir (born Faizal Khan in 1993 in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, India) is an Indian educator and YouTuber based in Patna, Bihar, celebrated for revolutionizing affordable competitive exam preparation in India. He runs the Khan GS Research Centre, a coaching institute that prepares students for examinations such as UPSC, SSC, Railway, Banking, and BPSC.

Khan Sir hails from a middle-class family; his father was a contractor and his mother a homemaker.

He completed his early education at Parmar Mission School in Deoria and later attended Allahabad University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree, and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Geography. He initially aspired to join the Indian Army but became medically unfit for the NDA exam, which led him to pursue education as his career.

He began his teaching career in Patna with just six students in a small classroom, earning approximately ₹40 per day as a private tutor. His unique, humorous, and relatable teaching methods often using Bhojpuri-infused Hindi dialect and real-life examples, quickly gained popularity, leading to larger class sizes.

In 2019, he launched the Khan GS Research Centre YouTube channel, which has grown to over 23–24 million subscribers and features close to 400 videos covering general studies, history, geography, polity, and current affairs.

To expand his educational outreach, Khan Sir launched the Khan Sir Official app in 2021, offering online courses and study materials at highly affordable fees, including a six-month course priced at just ₹200.

He famously rejected an offer of ₹107 crore from a leading EdTech company that sought to stop his free education mission, choosing instead to continue providing affordable learning opportunities to poor and disabled students. As of 2024, his net worth is estimated to be around ₹41 crore (approximately $5 million), derived from his coaching institute, YouTube channel, mobile app, and published books.

Khan Sir has faced controversies and challenges, including attacks on his coaching centre and periods of unrest, yet he remains a beloved figure in Indian education. He actively advocates for student rights and has served as a voice for aspirants during the RRB-NTPC and BPSC protests. In 2025, he was honored with the Champions of Change Bihar Award for revolutionizing education in the region.

Khan Sir is married to A.S. Khan, a content writer, author, and baking enthusiast who previously worked with JagranJosh. His wedding reception in Patna attracted notable personalities, educators, and well-wishers.
