Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a renowned Pakistani singer best known for his mastery of qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music, as well as his work in Bollywood and Lollywood as a playback singer.
He was born on December 9, 1974, in Faisalabad (formerly Lyallpur), Punjab, Pakistan, into a family with a 600-year tradition of qawwali.
He is the nephew of the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who was known as the "Shahanshah-e-Qawwali" (Emperor of Qawwali), and the son of singer Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan.

He is the living torchbearer of his family's musical legacy and was groomed from childhood by his uncle to carry forward Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's divine legacy.
