Dileep

Dileep, born Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan Pillai on 27 October 1967, is an Indian film actor, producer, singer, and businessman who primarily works in Malayalam cinema.

He is known for his comic timing and for building a long career in commercial Malayalam films. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a mimicry artiste and later worked as an assistant to filmmaker Kamal before entering films.

His early screen appearances and stage performances helped him gain attention, and his 1994 role in Manathe Kottaram gave him the screen name Dileep, which he later adopted as his professional identity.

He made his film debut in Ennodishtam Koodamo in 1992 and went on to establish himself as a leading actor with films such as Sallapam, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, Punjabi House, Udayapuram Sulthan, and Chandranudikkunna Dikhil. He later appeared in many commercially successful films and is reported to have acted in more than 130 films over his career.

He has also worked as a producer and playback singer, adding to his profile in the Malayalam film industry. His work has earned him several awards, including Kerala State Film Awards and Asianet Film Awards, and he remains one of the most recognisable figures in Malayalam popular cinema.

In his personal life, Dileep married actress Manju Warrier in 1998, and they later separated in 2015; they have a daughter named Meenakshi. He married actress Kavya Madhavan in 2016, and the couple have a daughter born in 2018.
