Tara Anuradha

Tara (Anuradha) was born on 4 March 1971 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and grew up in a family that supported her early interest in the performing arts.

She began acting as a child and made her screen debut in a Tamil film before transitioning to Kannada cinema, where she established herself as a versatile performer in both lead and character roles.

Tara made her film debut in the Tamil film Ingeyum Oru Gangai (1984) and entered Kannada cinema shortly thereafter, appearing in a range of films across genres.

Over the following decades she worked with many prominent directors and actors in Kannada cinema and built a reputation for strong, nuanced performances in both mainstream and parallel films. Her notable film credits include critically acclaimed titles that brought both popular and critical recognition, and she has been honored with multiple awards for acting at the state and national levels.

She received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Hasina, a role that highlighted her ability to carry complex, socially relevant narratives. Beyond acting, she has been involved in film production and has served in leadership roles within Karnataka’s film institutions, including a term as President of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, where she worked to promote Kannada cinema and support industry initiatives.
