Surveen Chawla

Surveen Chawla (born 1 August 1984) is an Indian actress and dancer who appears in Hindi and Punjabi films, television series, and web shows.

She is recognized as one of the highest-paid actresses in the Punjabi film industry and has built a versatile career spanning over two decades in Indian entertainment. She was born in Chandigarh, India, and completed her schooling there before graduating from Chandigarh College for Women.

She belongs to a Sikh family of businessmen; her father and brother both run successful businesses in Gurgaon, where her family is settled. Initially interested in practicing medicine until her 10th standard, she switched to commerce in 12th standard and ultimately graduated in arts.

Her acting career began on television in 2003 when she appeared in the reality show Coke [V] Popstars. She made her formal television debut as Charu Grewal in the Balaji Telefilms serial Kahin To Hoga (2004), a popular mystery-drama series. She subsequently appeared in several other TV shows, including Kaajdal (2007), where she played Kaajjal Behl, and Kasauti Kay as Kasak.

She also participated in the reality dance show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, where she paired with Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth. She transitioned to films with her debut in the Kannada movie Paramesha (also known as Paramesha Panwala).

She made her Hindi film debut and gained wider recognition through roles in Ugly (2013), directed by Anurag Kashyap, where she played Rakhi Malhotra. Her notable film roles include Sonika Prasad in Hate Story 2 (2014), Bijli in Parched (2015), another critically acclaimed film by Leena Yadav and Sweety in the Punjabi film Disco Singh (2014). She also appeared in 24 (2016), the Indian adaptation of the American series.

In recent years, she has gained significant prominence through web series. She played Jojo Mascarenas in Netflix's Sacred Games (2017), Shruti Sharma in Decoupled (2021), Avantika Ahuja in Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach (2024), and took on the lead role in Sony LIV's Mandala Murders (2024).

Her television and streaming work has established her as a versatile performer capable of handling complex characters across different genres.
