Pooja Gandhi

Pooja Gandhi (born Sanjana Gandhi on October 7, 1983) is an Indian actress and producer who works predominantly in Kannada cinema, with additional appearances in Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and Hindi films.

She was born in a Punjabi family in Paurath, Punjab, India, to father Pawan Gandhi, a businessman, and mother Jyothi Gandhi, a homemaker. Gandhi has two younger sisters: Radhika Gandhi, who also works in Kannada films, and Suhani Gandhi, a tennis player.

She made her film debut in 2003 with the Bengali movie Tomake Salam and later appeared in the Tamil film Kokki in 2006. Her career-transforming moment came with the commercially successful Kannada film Mungaru Male in 2006, which became a box office hit and catapulted her to instant stardom.

Following this breakthrough, she became known as "Male Hudugi" (rain girl) in Kannada media and the film industry, and also earned the nickname "Mungaru Male Hudugi" or the "Mungaru Male girl".

After Mungaru Male, she established herself as one of the most popular and best-paid actresses in South Indian cinema, receiving several awards for her work. She starred in numerous commercial hit films including Milana (2007), Krishna (2007), Taj Mahal (2008), Budhivanta (2008), Anu (2009), Gokula (2009), Dandupalya (2012), and Dandupalya 2 (2017). Over the course of a decade, she appeared in more than 50 films.

In addition to her acting career, she joined the Janata Dal (Secular) political party in 2012, becoming a member of the party. She is also known as an entrepreneur alongside her profession as an actress.

She completed her studies in New Delhi and had wanted to pursue modeling and acting in films since her school days.
