Saloni Aswani

Saloni Aswani, born Vandana on June 1, 1987, in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, is an Indian actress and model known primarily for her work in Telugu and Kannada films.

She was raised in a Sindhi-speaking family; her father worked as a Customs Officer (later described as a narcotics assistant commissioner), and when she was about five years old, the family relocated to Central Government Quarters near Wadala in Bombay (Mumbai).

From a young age, she aspired to join the film industry despite her non-filmi background. She began performing in plays at age 12 and joined the theatre group Kala Sansad, where she actively participated in dramas.

During her academic career, she consistently engaged in theatrical performances, often imitating her favorite actress, Sridevi, when reciting lines or rehearsing. Her mother encouraged her acting ambitions, while her father initially urged her to pursue a respectable profession.

After completing her schooling, she enrolled at Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University (S.N.D.T.) near New Marine Lines/Churchgate in Bombay, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology.

Following her graduation, she took acting lessons at Ashok Kumar's Acting Academy, run by his daughter Preeti Ganguly, and also performed with the theater group Kala Sansad. Without her father's knowledge, she created a portfolio and submitted it to modeling agencies, which led to her entry into the glamour world.

Saloni Aswani began her career in modeling after finishing her education, appearing in various television advertisements and print commercials for reputed brands including Vaseline, Lifebuoy, Parachute Oil, Moove, Chic shampoo, Three Roses Tea, and Meera soaps.

Her debut in Bollywood came with the Hindi film Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa in 2003, followed by appearances in Rehguzar and Saawan: The Love Season (2006).

After her Hindi film debut, she received offers from Telugu cinema and made her entry into Southern films with Dhana-51. She went on to star in several Telugu films, though she initially failed to achieve notable commercial success. Her most notable and well-known films include Magadheera (2009), Maryada Ramanna (2010), and Bodyguard (2012).

Throughout her career, she has worked in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu films, establishing herself as a model-turned-actress in the Indian entertainment industry.
