Saira Banu (also known as Saira Bano) is a retired Indian actress born on August 23, 1944, in Mussoorie, United Provinces, British India (now Uttarakhand, India). She was born into a film family; her mother Naseem Banu was a famous actress and her father Mian Ehsanul Haq was a film producer.
Saira Banu made her acting debut at the age of 16 in the 1961 hit film "Junglee," opposite Shammi Kapoor. For this debut performance, she earned her first Filmfare Award nomination as Best Actress, which instantly established her as a successful actress throughout the 1960s and early 1970s.

She is regarded as one of the finest actors of Hindi cinema and was among the most popular actresses of that era.
Throughout her career, she received four Filmfare Award nominations in total. Her three additional Best Actress nominations were for "Shagird" (1967), "Diwana" (1967), and "Sagina" (1974). The turning point of her career was the comedy movie "Padosan" with Sunil Dutt in 1968, which established her as one of the best actresses.
Other successful films in her repertoire include "Bluff Master" (1963), "Ayee Milan Ki Bela" (1964) with Rajendra Kumar, "Jhuk Gaya Aasman" (1968), "Victoria No. 203" (1972), "Hera Pheri" (1976), and "Bairaag" (1976). In 1976, Saira Banu decided to retire from her film career. However, she later appeared in a character role opposite her husband in the 1984 film "Duniya" and made her final film appearance in "Faisla" in 1988.
She is married to Dilip Kumar, one of India's most legendary actors. She also played a pivotal role in styling "Junglee," redefining cinematic fashion and revolutionizing makeup in Indian cinema, innovations that became milestones in the industry.
