Rita Bhaduri (4 November 1955 - 17 July 2018) was an Indian film and television actress celebrated for her warm, expressive supporting roles in Hindi cinema and popular TV serials over more than four decades.
Born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, she was the daughter of actor Chandrima Bhaduri and later married actor Rajiv Verma, with whom she co-founded the theater group Bhopal Theaters. She graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, in the 1973 batch, where her classmates included actress Zarina Wahab.

She began her acting career in the early 1970s and quickly became a familiar face in Bollywood, especially for portraying emotional, strong, and nurturing character roles.
She initially appeared as a supporting actress in Hindi films throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, with notable performances in Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979), Julie (1975), Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Raja Hindustani, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, and Viruddh.
In Julie, she played Julie's best friend and was pictured in the popular song "Yeh Ratien Nayi Purani". For her role in Raja (1995), she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also had associations with the Gujarati film industry, where, despite not being of Gujarati origin, she became one of its exceptionally successful actresses.
On television, she featured in well-known serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Sasural Genda Phool, and Nimki Mukhiya, in which she played the role of grandmother. She appeared in more than 90 films throughout her career.
Rita Bhaduri died on 17 July 2018 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, at the age of 62, while being treated at Sujay Hospital in Vile Parle for a kidney ailment. Her sons are Shiladitya Verma and Tathagat Verma.
