Renuka Menon

Renuka Menon (born 3 November 1983 in Alappuzha, Kerala, India) is a former Indian actress who predominantly appeared in Malayalam and Telugu-language films, with additional roles in Tamil and Kannada cinema.

She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Nammal (2002), which became a blockbuster hit and earned her widespread recognition, including for the popular song "Rakshasi" that gave her the nickname "rakshasi" of Malayalam cinema.

Although she reportedly worked in an unreleased film titled Mayamohithachandran during her twelfth standard, Nammal is considered her official debut since the earlier film never saw release.

Following her successful debut, she was cast as the female lead opposite rising star Prithviraj in Meerayude Dukhavum Muthuvinte Swapnavum (2003). She made her Telugu debut in 2004 with Anandamanandamaye and entered the Tamil and Kannada film industries in 2005 with February 14 (starring Bharath) and News (starring Upendra), respectively, thus working in all four major South Indian film industries within just three years.

Her notable films include Daas (2005), where she shared the screen with Ravi Mohan, Vargam (2006), in which she again played heroine opposite Prithviraj, and Kalabha Kadhalan (2006), where she appeared alongside Arya.

She also had a key role in the Suresh Gopi-led Pathaaka (2006). Menon acted in more than 15 films across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada languages.

In 2006, after just four years in the industry, she retired from acting at the age of 21. She married Suraj Menon, a US-based software engineer, on 21 November 2006, and the couple settled in California, USA.

She had never been very interested in cinema and had desired to go abroad for higher education, but her parents arranged her marriage before she could pursue that path.
