Rekha Vedavyas

Rekha Vedavyas (born 24 January 1985), also known as Akshara, is a former Indian actress who predominantly worked in Kannada films and also appeared in Telugu and Tamil films. She was active in the film industry from 2001 to 2024.

She was born and brought up in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. She did her schooling at the Basava Residential Girls School in Kengeri, Bangalore. While pursuing her education, she was doing a BBA correspondence course from the University of Madras. She began modelling part-time while trying to pursue an acting career.

While pursuing modelling, Rekha Vedavyas made her acting debut in the 2001 Kannada film Chitra.

Her breakthrough came when the film Anandam was released in 2001, through which she instantly shot to fame in the Telugu film industry. She has since starred in over 30 films in various South Indian languages, including Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil.

Some of her notable films include Huccha (2001), Mudda: The Issue (2003), Odam Number Kurraadu, Dongodu, Jaakki Weds Sriram, and Preminchukunnaam. She became a star actress in Kannada cinema and achieved star heroine status there, doing the majority of her films in Kannada.

By 2012, however, she began receiving mostly eyecandy roles with significant glamour but fewer substantial films. Her final known work includes Ala Ila Ela (2023) and Paramashiva.

Rekha Vedavyas has remained unmarried. In February 2026, she openly discussed her struggles with marriage, revealing that she has faced health issues for several years.

She stated that her health problems have caused her to become physically and mentally depressed, and despite wanting to marry and live a family life, no one has come forward to marry her due to her health conditions. She expressed that she prefers waiting for the right person rather than making a rushed decision that might lead to regret later.

Rekha Vedavyas is approximately 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m) tall, with brown eyes and brown hair. She weighs around 60 kg.
