Rajani (born Shashi Kaur Malhotra on July 27, 1965, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India) is a former Indian film actress who appeared predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Her real name is Shashi Kaur Malhotra (sometimes reported as Sashi Malhotra or Shashi Malhotra), and she was born to V. N. Malhotra, a Punjabi, and Sulochana, a Kannada Brahmin.

She was introduced to the Telugu film industry under the name Rajani and to the Tamil film industry as Sasikala. She was born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and her zodiac sign is Leo. Rajani made her Telugu debut in 1985 with the film Rendu Rella Aaru, which became a Silver Jubilee movie.

She became well known for her memorable roles opposite major Tollywood heroes of the 1980s, including Rajendra Prasad, Nagarjuna, and Balakrishna. She acted in 10 films with Rajendra Prasad, including the Silver Jubilee hits Seetharama Kalyanam and Rendu Rella Aaru.

In total, she appeared in approximately 150 feature films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam industries. Some of her notable Telugu films include Aha Naa Pellanta, Majnu, and Seetaramula Kalyanam.

In Kannada cinema, she is remembered for Jai Karnataka (a remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Mr. India), in which she starred alongside Ambareesh, and Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare with Vishnuvardhan. Her notable Tamil and other South Indian films include Vetri Vizha (1989) and Dhruvanakshatram (1989).

Rajani married Hyderabad-based Dr. Mullagiri Praveen in 1998 and left the film industry during the prime of her career to pursue family life. She has three children from this marriage. Later, she filed for divorce citing harassment from her husband and mother-in-law, and she has been living in Hyderabad with her three children.

After years away from acting, she began a comeback through television and is reported to be acting in the Maa TV serial Dr. Indira.
