Talluri Rameswari

Talluri Rameswari (born 6 January 1958), also known simply as Rameswari, is an Indian actress who has worked extensively in Hindi, Telugu, Odia, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Bhojpuri films.

She was born and raised in Andhra Pradesh, specifically from West Godavari, and spent her childhood in Kakinada.

She became the first Telugu actress to gain recognition in Bollywood, preceding Jayaprada's larger success in the Hindi film industry. She attended and graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 1975.

Her big break came in 1977 with Rajshri Productions' Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye, which became a phenomenal hit and made her a household name across India. She is best known for two hit Hindi films: Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977) and Aasha (1980). Her performance in Aasha earned her a Filmfare Nomination as Best Supporting Actress.

In Telugu cinema, she won the Nandi Award for Best Actress for her role in Seetamalakshmi (1978). She also delivered a strong performance as Mahesh Babu's mother in the Telugu film Nijam.

Her notable filmography includes Aadat Se Majboor, Sunayana, Maan Abhimaan, Sharda, Agni Pareeksha, Maan Maryada, Bunty Aur Babli, F.A.L.T.U, and Rowdy Fellow. Her most recent movie is Brahma Anandam.

She married Deepak Seth, a Punjabi actor and producer who was also her alumnus from FTII. The couple has two sons named Bhaskara Pratap Seth and Surya Prem Seth.

She and her husband produced a Punjabi film titled Mein Tuun Assin Tussin (2007), based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. Rameswari took a sabbatical from acting to raise her children but has recently returned to the industry, primarily playing mother roles in films.
