She made her film debut in the Bengali hit "Amanush" (1975), for which she won a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She played the role of "the Other Woman" in Amanush.
Throughout her acting career during the 1970s and 1980s, she worked in more than 65 films, including "Manzelein Aur Bhi Hain" (1973), "Maa Bahen Aur Biwi" (1973), "Umrao Jaan" (1981), "Mangalsutra" (1981), and "Pataal Bhairavi" (1985).
