Abhimanyu Singh

Abhimanyu Singh is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil films.

He was born on September 20, 1975, in Sonpur, Bihar, India. Although Singh was born in Sonpur, his family hails from Daudpur in Jehanabad, Bihar. His father was an employee at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Patna, while his mother was a homemaker.

He made his acting debut with the Bollywood movie Aks in 2001, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The role in Aks was recommended to him by Manoj Bajpayee. However, he did not have it easy in Bollywood initially, as he had no acting background when he moved to Mumbai. To make his presence felt, he joined Makarand Deshpande's theatre group, where he met Anurag Kashyap.

His first impactful role came in Anurag Kashyap's film Gulaal in 2009, which established him as an actor. In 2010, he played the role of Bukka Reddy in Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, for which he gained much appreciation. He is notably known for his roles in the political films Gulaal (2009) and Rakta Charitra (2010), as well as Thalaivaa (2013) and L2: Empuraan (2025).

He made his debut in the Tamil film industry with his role in Velayudham in 2011. He has worked in the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, and Kannada film industries. Some of his other notable films include Lakshya (2004), Dhol (2007), Accident on Hill Road (2010), I Am (2011), Ram Leela (2013), Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara! (2013), Pandaga Chesko (2015), Mom (2017), and Sooryavanshi (2021).

Before his film success, he earned fame from television through serials like Kaahin Kissii Roz, Yeh Nazdikiyaan, Kkusum, and Dial 100. He married his girlfriend Sargam in 2006 and has two children: a son named Zulu and a daughter named Amelie.
