Geeta Bali (born Harkirtan Kaur; 1930 – 21 January 1965) was a popular Bollywood actress known for her vibrant screen presence, talented dancing, and roles in Hindi-language films during the 1950s.
She was born in Amritsar, Punjab, in British India into a Sikh Mohyal family, a branch of Brahmins who had become soldiers.
She began her film career as a child actress at age 12 with the 1942 film The Cobbler, making her first screen appearance to help support her family. She made her debut as a lead heroine in the film Badnaami (also cited as Jalsa and Sohag Raat in 1948). Over her career spanning more than a decade, she acted in approximately 70 to 75 films.

She became a star in the 1950s with notable roles in films including Albela (1951), Bawre Nain (1950), Baazi (1951), Dulari, Anand Math (1952), Kavi (1954), Vachan (1955), Rangeen Raaten (1955), Coffee House (1957), and Raag Rang (1952), which she also produced.
In Bawre Nain, she worked with Raj Kapoor, who later became her brother-in-law, and in Anand Math she worked with Prithviraj Kapoor, who became her father-in-law. She received a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress for Vachan (1955) and another nomination as Best Supporting Actress for Kavi (1954).
Geeta Bali first met actor Shammi Kapoor during the shooting of a film, and four months later they eloped and married at the Banganga temple in Bombay at 4 a.m. on 23 August 1955. Since there was no vermilion available, Shammi applied Geeta's lipstick to her parting as a sign of marriage.
Unlike many actresses who quit films after marrying into the Kapoor family, she continued her acting career until her death. The couple had two children, and her niece Yogeeta Bali later also became a film actress. Her secretary was Surinder Kapoor, the father of producer Boney Kapoor and actor Anil Kapoor.
Her last completed film was Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai in 1963, and her final film Rano was left unfinished. Geeta Bali died on 21 January 1965 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India, from smallpox (variole) at the age of 34.
