Gita Gopinath is an Indian-American economist who held the position of Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She was born on December 8, 1971, in Kolkata, India. Gita Gopinath is renowned for her expertise in international finance and macroeconomics. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in Delhi, and later pursued a Master's degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Gita Gopinath then went on to complete her Ph.D. in Economics at Princeton University.
