Shatrughan Sinha, also known by his nicknames Shatru, Shotgun, and Bihari Babu, is a renowned Indian actor and politician. Born on July 15, 1945, in Patna, Bihar, He has made significant contributions to both the Indian film industry and the political landscape.

His acting career began with his debut film 'Sajan' in 1969. He later appeared in villainous roles in several films such as 'Pyar Hi Pyar', 'Banphool', 'Raampur Ka Lakshman', 'Bhai Ho Toh Aisa', 'Heera', and 'Blackmail'. His acting prowess earned him the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for Best Supporting Actor for 'Tanhai' in 1973.

He has had a significant political journey. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1991 and served as a cabinet minister under the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He took charge of the Department of Health and Family Welfare (Jan 2003-May 2004) and the Department of Shipping (August 2004). He won the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar during the Indian general elections in 2009 and 2014. In 2019, he left the BJP and joined the Indian National Congress, and later in March 2022, he joined the All India Trinamool Congress.

He is known for his interests in yoga, music, and outdoor games. He actively engages in social service through various NGOs and agencies like Lions Club and Rotary Club. He is also known for his special interest in the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden people.

Shatrughan Sinha is married to former Miss India Poonam Sinha. They have two sons, Luv Sinha, an actor, and Kush Sinha, a model, and a daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, a renowned Bollywood actress. Sinha's parents were Shyama Devi Sinha and Bhubaneswariprasad Sinha, and he has three elder brothers - Ram, Lakshman, and Bharat.

Over the years, Shatrughan Sinha has been recognized for his contributions to Indian cinema. He was honored with the Stardust Life Time Achievement Award in 2003. In 2007, he was awarded the National Kishore Kumar Samman. He was also bestowed with the Zee Cine Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2011, and recognized for his 'Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema' at the 2014 IIFA Awards.
