He was born on June 10, 1972, in Chennai, India. Pichai earned a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. He later pursued higher studies in the United States and received a Master's degree in Material Sciences and Engineering from Stanford University. Pichai then went on to complete an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
