Jyoti Prasad Agarwala

Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was a distinguished poet, playwright, filmmaker, and composer from Assam, a state in northeastern India. He is considered a pioneer and a foundational figure in Assamese cinema and literature. Jyoti Prasad Agarwala played a significant role in establishing Assamese cinema. He directed and produced the first Assamese film, "Joymoti" (1935), which showcased his vision for indigenous storytelling through the medium of cinema. Agarwala also composed music for the film, incorporating Assamese folk elements and creating a unique cinematic experience.
