Radhika Kumaraswamy

Radhika Kumaraswamy (born November 12, 1986, in Mangalore, Karnataka, India) is an Indian film actress and producer who has predominantly worked in the Kannada film industry. Known mononymously as Radhika, she became one of the most sought-after actresses in Kannada cinema during the early 2000s.

Radhika made her acting debut at the age of 15 with the movie Neela Megha Shyama in 2002, though her first release was the romantic drama Ninagagi (also spelled Ninagai), a remake of the 1999 Malayalam film Niram.

She starred Vijay Raghavendra and became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of that year, quickly propelling Radhika into the spotlight and establishing her as a leading actress in the Kannada film sector. Following this successful debut, she appeared in a series of well-received films including Tavarige Baa Thangi, Iyarkai, Hatavadi, Anatharu, and Avatharam.

Her performance in Thayi Illada Thabbali (2003) earned her the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress, marking a significant achievement in her early career. In the same year, 2003, Radhika made her Kollywood (Tamil) debut with S. P. Jananathan's National Award-winning directorial Iyarkai. Over her career, she has appeared in over 30 films across Kannada and other South Indian industries.

She later ventured into film production, establishing her own banner and producing two successful films: the romantic comedy Lucky (2012) and Sweety Nanna Jodi (2013), in which she also co-starred. She has continued to work as both an actress and producer in the industry.

In her personal life, she had a first marriage to Rathan Kumar from 2002 to 2007, which ended tragically. In 2007 (some sources report 2006), she controversially married H. D. Kumaraswamy, the son of former Indian Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda and later the Chief Minister of Karnataka, becoming his second wife despite going against her father's wishes. The couple has one daughter named Shamika K. Swamy. Radhika and H. D. Kumaraswamy separated in 2015 but remain married.

After taking a brief break from acting, Radhika returned to the screen in 2024 with the film Bhairadevi, marking a new chapter in her career. She also appeared in Iddaru (2024). According to reports, Radhika Kumaraswamy has a net worth of approximately Rs 124 crore and is currently a full-time producer and actor. She stands approximately 5 feet 7 inches (170 cm) tall.
