Abhimanyu Dassani was born on 21 February 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, to actress Bhagyashree and entrepreneur-actor Himalaya Dassani. He hails from a family with deep film roots and aristocratic connections, his maternal grandfather, Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan, was the Maharaja of Sangli. His younger sister, Avantika Dassani, is also an actress.

He completed his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and earned a degree in finance from Mithibai College, Mumbai. To pursue his passion for acting, he further trained at the New York Film Academy and The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in California. He also attended Anupam Kher’s acting institute in India.

He is a trained martial artist with skills in taekwondo and karate.
